Ivan's best friend - "THE" Cyma RPK [ENG]

From a freak point of view,  the support guns are heroic big boy toys of the weekend massacres. Of course we feel some patriotic feeling to save our world when we hold them in our hands. In airsoft there are many possibility to be a super soldier... m249s, mg36s and RPKs the most common toys for us.

Few weeks ago I've made a post about the SRC MG36. The title was the "2nd best" choice for a reliable and accurate support gun. And now here is the reason why. In the past 2 years I have serviced many support guns, but they always had some properties (little sicknesses) that made compromises between player and gun. For example: hop up-s, GB internal parts, bad manufacturing etc. The squad who owned cyma rpk-s get advantage from the accuracy and range of the gun. AEGs with short barrels can't shoot the same range. Well, there are some cons too, but first lets see the pros.
Basically the new gen. Cyma replicas are VFC copies, same body structure and disassembly method. The quality of the Cyma guns is very good. This gun has many steel parts such the frame, cover, bipod, firing selector etc. Sadly the barrel is made from aluminium and the finishing and material quality of the wood parts are very very average.

Internally the gun  has the third generation ver. 3 GB by Cyma called cm.02c. It is strong enough to wear strong spring (m120-m130) for long period, I have never heard about broken cyma ver. 3 GBs.

In the GB there are some good "tuning" parts, which are now standard in china made replicas too. Steel bushing, steel gears, ball bearing spring guide, and hard plastic piston. I think the weakest parts are the nozzle and piston head, but they can handle the stress around 400fps for a long period (in our guns the completely stock internal parts are running for 2 years without any failure. They shoots between 370 and 410 fps. )

"The key of durability and reliability for any china made guns is the proper maintenance and basic service. In china the workers don't care for good assembly and well installation"

Of course useless shimming and grease in the GB. First clean everything and then start the service. Out of the box the gun fires 440fps.

Air-section: it seems useless but after proper service they work very well. The nylon nozzle and the strange piston head have to be replaced first. And sometimes the sealing of the piston head is very bad, a new O-ring solves the problem.

There is a habit for people buy ACM guns. They start to replace parts without experience.... don't do this. There are just  some parts that need to be replace. For example the motor is a high torque one, running good and it can pull m130-140 springs too.  Lipo battery, mosfet unit and new wires give wings for this cyma motor. Runs smooth and direct. see here
The hop up unit is well built. The inner surface is smooth and don't need to replace. Surprisingly the hop up rubber works well.

Inner barrel of the gun is a bras one and it is 50cm long. The key of the accuracy of the gun is the good hop up unit and long smooth barrel. The inner diameter is 6.08mm so you can improve the acc. easily by replace it.

And here come the most realistic feature... the bolt system. It is made from metal and has a good weight. To use it is fantastic :D

the "parent" of the RPK is the cm.048, it use the same frame.

So the gun has many PROS like supreme accuracy, smooth motor, a good GB after service and a good quality hop up unit and a very rigid steel mainframe structure. Shooting with the RPK is awesome. You can make  direct hits from the distance of 60m /180ft on a man size target. The combination of the range and full auto mod make it a real beast of the fields.

But as every gun it has some CONS too. The gun has big weight, a fully loaded one is over 6kg/13pounds. It need a real Russian bear from field to hold all day long. When you fire in prone position the long standard RPK hi-cap and mid-cap magazines are very uncomfortable to use. I recommend to use a drum mag and looks better. The mentioned wood parts need a post-care out of the box, the finishing is not good.
I've forgot to mention that the battery compartment is situated in the stock....... but.... it is very very small... It will be tricky to find the right battery to fit in this space (sadly no photo about it).

As a final conclusion I think the performance of the gun makes it the number one, it shoot more accurate than its competitors but it need a proper service to make this constant. The outer and internal parts are durable, the building quality is good. The GB uses standard ver. 3 parts and the hop up is a simple AK unit, so buying replacement parts is easy.

In the market you can find more expensive and a more better quality RPKs (CA, SRC, LCT) but they won't perform better.
After 2 year you can buy the Cyma RPK in three different version:

The cm.052 is the standard version, with steel body and wood parts.

The newest version is the modernized cm.052A the RPKS-74M. It comes with black polimer parts and AK-74 like hi-cap mag. (my favorite :D )

And the last version is the cm.052S with foldable wood stock

And finally the latest accessories for RPKs and other AKs are the long 200BB capacity mid-cap magazines. variant 1 variant 2

In my eyes the Cyma RPK is the best support weapon for an airsoft team, accurate and reliable and it is a good weapon.
